Luc's Double Lung Transplant Complication Recovery

Luc is a CF warrior who just had his second double lung transplant. During surgery, he had two mini strokes which has left him blind. His loving wife Jen will be taking leave without pay from work on and off to support his recovery and the complications from the surgery. They live in one of the most expensive cities in Canada - downtown Toronto as they need to be near the hospital.
Sunday March 24
Luc’s surgery was a success, the new lungs are in!!! the surgeon came to see me and to let me know that Luc did amazing and that the left side gave them a bit of trouble due to the last lung transplant when he needed repair a week after his first transplant but she said the bleeding was under control and that they are very happy. He will be in ICU in about an hour or so and I get to see him. I’ll be knocking down the ICU door lol.
March 27
An update on Luc’s progress, his lungs are looking good the ventilator is out and he is breathing with his new lungs still using oxygen but that’s just protocol. All other organs are behaving. He is moving onto step down which means he’s out of ICU by tomorrow hopefully. Now for the hard part we discovered that during the surgery he had two mini strokes, Which caused his optic nerve (his eyes) to be deprived of blood and oxygen which has led to him being blind. We do not know at this point how much he will regain but the team is working hard to try and figure it out this is a A rare complication and they are attempting many things to get his sight back. We do not know the outcome and we will not speculate. So moving forward with his parents and I are with him and we are getting him through this and we thank everyone for all the love and support and all the messages but as you can imagine we need to focus on Luc but we wanted to give you guys an update at the same time. Keep sending love keep sending prayers keep sending whatever you got and whenever we feel another update should be provided we will do our best to keep you all in the loop.
